Boo to sickness!!!

My poor little girl has had a rough go of it this winter. First double ear infections, then the flu (even after having a flu shot), and now RSV. I just hate when kiddos are sick. You feel so helpless. Here's hoping that she recovers quickly and doesn't have to have breathing treatments. Here are a few pics of our activities over the last couple of weeks! Come on Spring. (and no allergies) ;)

What an amazing Christmas!

What an amazing Christmas we had as a family of 4. We spent it right here at home this year and enjoyed every minute of time we got to spend as a family. Christmas eve started out with a bang! We were up and at em' early that morning. Gage helped me make breakfast and then, it was time to fix the big Christmas dinner. We decided to do it Christmas eve instead of Christmas day, so we could spend time with the kids putting together and playing with all their new toys. On the menu: Ham, mashed potatoes, carrots, green beans, and rolls. For dessert, Gage and Daddy made Jesus' birthday cake. After lunch it was nap time for kids, clean up time for Mommy and Daddy. Quick cleaning of the kitchen, and then off to get ready for Church. It wasn't till 4, but we left about 3:15, to ensure we got good seats. We let Gage stay in "big church" with us for the singing, and he was mesmerized. It was so amazing to see him clapping and singing along to the songs. And he was quite enamored with the drums! After church, we headed home for a quick "left overs" bite to eat, then we were on the mission to make reindeer food. Gage and Daddy put it on the lawn while Stella and I watched. Gage is very much into "I will do it myself," so we couldn't do much of anything but watch ;) Quick baths for the kids were in order, then into their Christmas pjs, before opening 1 present and putting out cookies for Santa. Surprisingly, Gage went right to bed without a fuss, which is a task these days.
Apparently the kids were on the nice list this year, because there were tons of presents around this house. Christmas morning started about 7, when Stella woke up and her brother just a few minutes behind her. We SLOWLY opened Santa gifts, because Gage will accept NO help and wants to open every package/present/box/bow himself. By 9 we had gotten through Santa gifts and a few gifts from Grandparents, when it was time for Stella's morning nap. While she was sleeping, we let Gage open a few more, then we put everything together or out of packaging and let him play till she awoke.
After a quick hour nap from sister that ended with a diaper malfunction, crib sheet changing, and bath for Stella, we were back at present unwrapping. We seriously didn't stop till about 12 when we realized maybe we should stop and eat something, which was almost impossible for Gage to do. Short afternoon naps for the kids followed, then we played/put together all toys that they got. It looked like Toys R Us in our house. But on this one day a year, I wouldn't have it any other way. Experiencing Christmas through the eyes of children, is absolutely the best most rewarding way to experience it. God is so good and we are so thankful for everything he has blessed us with in 2011. Can't wait to see what he has in store for us for next year.

Long time...no blog!

Well I decided after seven long months off of blogging, I would get back into it again. Life in the Hansberger household is as busy as ever. We have settled into our new house nicely, and are loving the added space, as well as the huge yard. We have been in here for seven months now, which just doesn't seem possible.
Updates on the kids:
Gage is turning three at the end of the month, and is every bit, a three year old. Everything these days is "I'll do it myself" or NO (which I think is his favorite.) He is a sweet boy but definitely pushes the limits sometimes. I miss my cuddly momma's boy, but hope to have him back someday. :) He can't wait for Christmas. We count down every morning, by moving the candy cane in our Christmas calendar. We also have an Elf on a Shelf, name Jack, which he enjoys hunting for every morning. We celebrated his birthday this passed weekend, since his actual birthday is the 29th and so close to Christmas. We had a trains, planes, and automobiles party, which turned out to be a big hit. (I will include a few pics at the end.)
Oh, and Miss Stella, she is 10 months now and just as high maintenance as ever. She is getting around great, and I think in the next few weeks here, we will see her start to take her first steps on her own. She LOVES to be held however, and as long as she is doing that, she is happy as a clam. If I put her down or walk out of the room for just a second, she screams. Needless to say, there is lot of screaming in our house throughout the day, because I can't hold her all the time. She will get over it at some point however!! She eats pretty much all "people food" now and pulls the spoon out of your hand if you try to feed her baby food. She will take the baby food in the pouch, if she can do it herself. Some of her favorite foods are blueberries, bananas, strawberries, mac n cheese, and cheese. She is an eater, and there are days where she out eats her brother. I wonder where it all goes because she is still so tiny. Well not tiny, but much small than what her brother was. At her nine month check up she was 18 pounds and in the 50%.
All in all the Hansbergers are doing great. Gearing up for the holidays and getting ready for the cold Oklahoma winters.

Mother's Day!

It was a super special mothers day around the Hansberger house. Not only did I get to celebrate being a mother and getting spoiled by my wonderful hubby on that day, but our sweet baby girl was dedicated at church that day. Mother's Day was great. It started off with Gage and Daddy making muffins for momma and getting to spend a little time with the fam before we headed off to church. Stella was dedicated in a special baby dedication service along with our good friends Travis and Olivia's baby boy Tucker. After church we headed home where my hubs made a simple but nice lunch and then went all our for dinner. He made a beautiful chicken enchilada dish from scratch, (sauce and all) as well as a yummy oreo and peanut butter dessert. He even went so much to leave half of the entree without cheese (not eating dairy due to nursing) and found a dessert recipe that was right up my alley. The day before Gage and Daddy planted some beautiful flowers in my flower beds (since we had none) as my Mother's Day present!! The hydrangeas they got are seriously gorgeous and my favorite flower! I am so blessed to call myself a mother of these two adorable children!!

Well it's about time, I know. This thing called life tends to get in the way of blogging! To say that life with two kids is busy, is quite the understatement of the year. But.... I finally feel like I am starting to get the hang of this. Stella is doing so much better with eating and sleeping which makes things easier. Currently she still eats every three hours during the day and has her last feeding of the day at 7. She is in bed by 7:30ish and sleeps till 4am. I'll take it. At her two month check up, she was doing great. She weighed 11 pounds 3oz and was 22 inches long. The day she had her check up, we were visited by Sarah, Lincoln, and her mom Peggy. We had a short, but GREAT visit and I am reminded everyday of how much I miss my best friend, but cherish the time we spend together!

The day after Sarah and Peggy left, I hosted an Easter playdate for 12 kiddos (9 boys, 3 girls) which was so much fun. They hunted eggs inside that day since it was about 50 degrees out, but overall I think the kiddos had a great time, and I know the moms enjoy having time to socialize!

We are finally settling into the new house and are working slowly but surly to get all the rooms together. We just ordered our sectional for our family room, which won't be here for 6 weeks or so, but we are making progress!! We celebrated our first holiday in our new home, Easter, which was so much fun for Gage this year. (An for us parents who get to watch his excitement as he hunts Easter Eggs and opens his Easter basket.) Gage had so much fun Easter morning hunting for eggs and playing with some of his new toys in his Easter basket. We went to church that morning at 10, then went to an amazing brunch with friends after.

I know that sometimes I am over whelmed as a mom of two but I seriously don't think I could love three people more than my hubby (who has been absolutely wonderful lately) and my two wonderful children. I am so blessed!

So I have a very short window of time with both kids asleep, and I don't know how long this will last, so this is going to be a short and sweet post. Baby Stella is here! Sorry I haven't updated sooner, but I'm trying to get adjusted to life with two.
Stella was born February 10, 2011 at 2:47 in the afternoon! She weighed 7 pounds, 1 oz. and was 20 inches long. She couldn't be more perfect.
She is definitely more high maintenance than Gage was as far as eating and wanting to be held, but as Daniel says, "she's a girl, what do you expect?!" We finally got her on some medicine for acid reflux, which seems to be helping a lot! Her "witching hour" as I like to call it, is from about 6-9pm, but after that, she does pretty well with sleeping. She goes 4 to 5 hours at night between feedings, so I have managed to get some ok sleep. Other than that, our family of four is trying to establish some-what of a routine. But I don't think that will really take affect till we move, which is in two weeks. Ahhh, lets talk about stress! We can do it, right? Anyway, here are a few pics of her birthday and a few from the last three weeks. I will try like crazy to do a better job updating

Last Blog before Baby-Blizzard 2011

So I figured while I have the opportunity, I better make one last blog entry before baby Stella makes her appearance. Stella has 9 days left until her eviction day, unless she comes before then, which I was hoping for but now with all this snow, I kinda am rethinking that.
Well, unless you have been living under a rock, you have heard that Oklahoma was hit hard by a blizzard. We got 12 inches of snow here in the last 24 hours and have had some of the coldest temps since 1989. The temperature is currently 6 with a windchill of -14, so it is cold!!! We tried today to let Gage play in the snow, which was a task. He cried for 20 minutes before we went out, because he didn't want to get all bundled up in his snow suit, hat, gloves etc. When we finally got out there, he was so happy. Unfortunately, because it was so cold, we only stayed out for maybe 10 minutes, so then it caused a huge melt down when we had to bring him in.
We have another day tomorrow where we will all be home and inside all day, so lets hope we can survive it without going crazy. Below are a few pics of our fun snow day today!

Wow, so hard to believe that Christmas and New Years has come and gone and 2011 is a reality. We had a wonderful time Christmas day spending it with just the three of us (for the last Christmas) opening presents and playing with all of Gage's new toys. Man this child is spoiled rotten with 4 sets of Grandparents and Christmas and his birthday being 4 days apart. He has so many new toys its unbelievable. Some of his favorites include his new train table, John Deere ride on tractor, tools, and new kitchen.
We are gearing up around here for all the new things that are about to take place in the next couple of months. I went to my doctor's appointment Tuesday and everything is looking good with baby Stella. She has 39 days left in the incubator before we meet this little muffin! So hard to believe it's that close! I have been trying my best to get her things ready, but it's so hard when we are in this rental house and she doesn't have a room or any place to put her stuff. But that brings us to topic number two, the new house!!! We met with the builder last weekend and they are moving along faster than we expected. They said they could have the house done by the end of February, 1st of March. Which means, I could potentially have a two week old baby, have to pack up my family in this rental house, and move and unpack into a new house all in the span of two or three weeks. Ahhhhh, I am trying not to stress out but that just seems like a lot. I guess I am just going to have to take it one day at a time. For now, we are trying to enjoy every minute we have left as a family of three!

Wow, where did the month go? I am trying my best to catch up on blogging, but I have missed so much that I will just do a brief over view with some pictures. This month has been filled with fun Christmas and Birthday activities. We have done our best to do as many fun Christmas things as we can as a family since Gage is finally at an age where he is getting excited about Christmas. We have decorated the house with all things Christmas, we have gone as a family to see many different Christmas light displays, Gage and I have gone to several Christmas playdates where decorating Christmas cookies was a fun filled activity, as well as had a day dedicated to all things Christmas (wearing our pjs all day, baking Baby Jesus' birthday cake, Christmas art activities etc). It has been so fun to get in the spirit through the eyes of a two year old. He is so excited and every time he see's Santa he says HO,HO,HO! (Although we have yet to attempt the Santa pics cause he has a melt down, when we get close.) I just can't wait for Christmas morning. It's going to be so fun!

We also celebrated Gage's 2nd Birthday with his friends a little early. Since his birthday is on December 29th, it is so hard to plan a party right around the holidays. We decided this year we would do it on the 10th, to avoid friends being out of town/busy during the holiday break. We had a John Deere tractor party on a Friday for 12 of his closes friends. Gage was so excited. He loved blowing out his candles and singing to himself when we sang to him. We colored some John Deere coloring pages and had a very casual "playdate" type party. It was great, and Gage felt very special I think.

On another note, I am 32 weeks along in my pregnancy with Stella, which is so hard to believe. This pregnancy has gone by so quickly. I am feeling pretty good, but starting to get to the "uncomfortable stage." Sleep is not as easy, and chasing after a 2 year old, makes for a very long day. I am just ready to meet my little girl!!

We hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and have lots of time to spend with friends and family this holiday season.

Trying to play blog catch up!

Wow, where did October go? Well ours was spent moving out of our first house. We moved out last Wednesday, October 27th. We moved into a rental house until our new home is ready in March. We are finally some what adjusted and have all the boxes unpacked and put away. It's been kinda different living here, but fun since it's right in the middle of Edmond and within walking distance of so many things. There is a park at either end of our street which Gage and I have frequented several times already. In the midst of moving, we celebrated Halloween! (sorry about my lack of pictures. I had to take them with my phone, cause the camera was packed in a box which we hadn't unpacked at the time.) Before we moved, we managed to carve a pumpkin, which little man was so into. A tradition that I am sure will continue for the rest of his life at home. Gage really enjoyed Halloween this year, and actually got the concept of saying "Trick or Treat" (which he would say so quietly you could barely hear him) and he loved all the candy! He was a fire fighter for his party at school, and he was a spider for a Halloween birthday party we attended, and trick or treating. He was so cute as both.

Yesterday, we went to the new house and it has a roof! Yay! We are so excited, and it was so cool to actually walk around in the house and be able to tell what each room was. Gage really could have cared less about his room, because there was a tractor on the next lot, and he was off to the races, to go "rive" (drive) it!! Today, we spent so much needed quality time as a family on the Golf Course. We have never taken Gage, but we thought he would enjoy it and have fun driving the cart. Boy were we right!! He had so much fun! He loved driving the cart with Daddy and also getting to pull the flag, when Daddy would putt! So crazy how grown up he is these days. He's no longer a baby, but a "ig boy" (big boy as he would say)
We are looking forward to the cooler weather and holiday's coming up, and we know that these memories will be very special to us as we wait the impending arrival of our little daughter Stella Jane!! (Yes, she has a name)- Can't believe I am a little over 6 months pregnant! Time flies!

October Fun!

Well October has started out with big bang!! The Hansberger's have been very busy with fun activities. The first weekend in October, we went to Thomas the Train at the Oklahoma Railway museum. It was a beautiful fall weekend, and a great time had by all. We really enjoyed getting to hang out as a family.

This weekend, we took Gage to the pumpkin patch. He was much more into the tractors around the place, than the petting zoo, or pumpkins. We spent the majority of our time, pretending to drive the old John Deere tractors around the patch. We got some good pics however! The next day we attended Noah's third birthday at Jumping Craze. Gage had a great time jumping in all the different things with his Daddy! Mom sat this one out!

On top of all our fun activities, we SOLD OUR HOUSE! We close on October 29th, and move to a rental house for six months until our new house is completed. We have been so busy, packing, cleaning out, and getting ready for the move. Ahhh, sometimes I think we are crazy but I know this is the best thing! Much better than having two mortgages in March!

Craig and Molly's Wedding and other news!

Last week we went to South Carolina to celebrate Craig (my brother) and Molly's wedding. They got married on Friday, on the boardwalk, right on the beach in Isle of Palms. Daniel, Gage and I flew in Wednesday night and got to enjoy a few days on the beach. This was Gage's first time to the beach, and he was not ok with the water. He loved, playing in the sand but wouldn't have anything to do with the ocean.
He was also the ring bearer in the wedding, but didn't really play his part well. In fact he refused to walk down the aisle so mama had to carry him. It all turned out ok, and he was dressed so cute. After the wedding, we had a babysitter for Gage so Daniel and I could enjoy some adult time without a toddler running around. It was such a nice wedding and we were so happy to be a part of it.
On Saturday, we rented bikes and toured the beach and area on bike. It was such a blast, and Gage was in Heaven. He just loved the bikes and would wave and say "HI" to everyone we past. On Saturday night, we enjoyed a sunset cruise on the Harbor. It was BEAUTIFUL! We had such a nice relaxing time and it was a great way to end our summer!!
On another note.... I meant to post this news a while ago, but things have been so hectic. The Hansberger family is welcoming a baby GIRL into the family on February 15, 2011. We are so excited for the addition of a girl to our family. Bring on the pink shopping and bows!!

Entertaining a Toddler!

Sorry it's take me forever to update the blog. I have been pretty sick/serious lack of energy with baby #2 and Gage has not been in mother's day out for the last two months. But I promise as things get back into a routine, so will the blogging! I was trying to find a way to entertain him inside while it was raining, so I pulled out some of my old teaching tricks. We did potato prints. I took a potato, cut it in half and then carved out different shapes, then dip in paint and stamp. The potatoes are great for little toddler hands to pick up and stamp. Also good when working on patterns or colors. Anyway, Gage had a great time and managed to get pretty messy! Here are a few pictures of the fun!

Maine in July!

A few weeks ago we went on a family vacation to Maine. My family has a house up there so Daniel, Gage and I made the long trek up to have some much needed rest and relaxation time. We were there with my dad's side of the family. It was great, we had six extra sets of hands to help with Gage. He was so entertained, and loved every minute of being outside. While we were there, we had our first night away from Gage. My Dad, step-mom, and sisters and brother, kept Gage while Daniel and I went to Bar Harbor for the night! It was nice to have a night away just the two of us, and I don't think Gage even knew we were gone.
We had a great time, and can't wait to do it again next year! I'm going to upload just a few of the 200+ photos we have so you don't have picture overload.

Summer at the Lake

I know I have been a horrible blogger lately. So much going on and so little time to blog, but I PROMISE that I will at least get a few pics up of our recent (within the last month) trips to various lakes in Texas. We had a wonderful Babies and Besties weekend at Lake Athen's over Memorial day weekend. We got to see all the besties from college and their babies or in some cases their belly's ;)!! Then the following weekend we headed to Lake Travis for a family vacation (on my mom's side) Gage had a blast swimming in the lakes, taking his first boat and jet ski ride, and hanging with friends and family! We have another Lake trip planned next week, where we will be headed to Great Moose lake in Maine to spend some much needed RR time with my Dad's side of the family! I can't wait for VACATION! And I promise these pics will get uploaded sooner than the last ones!
Oh, and on the way home from Lake Travis, we took Gage to Baylor for the first time to see the bear pit and show him where Mommy went to school. So I included a few of those pics as well! (The pics are in backwards order!)

Touch-A-Truck

Edmond is a amazing place for racing a family and they always have fun things to do for children. This Saturday they hosted Touch-A-Truck. It was basically tons of truck set up in the UCO parking lot and children were able to get in the driver seat, honk the horn, push buttons and explore. Gage was in HEAVEN! He is all boy and loves trucks of any kind. We drive down the freeway and he points to everyone he sees. When we went to Touch a Truck, he was a little unsure at first because of all the horns going off every second, but it didn't take him long to warm up! It was a great family friendly activity for a Saturday!

Aunt Danielle Came to Visit!

Last week, my sister finished Baylor for the summer and decided to come and visit us after she took her last final. It was great to see her and Gage loved having someone else to play with during the day besides his mommy! We didn't have very good weather, but we managed to go to the park, mall, and the Bouncin' Craze. (indoor inflatable play place) I was able to capture a few pics when we went to the Bouncing place.

I'm going to try to catch up on my blogging and I thought instead of writing several different posts, I would just roll it all in one! Up first- Sarah and Lincoln's baby shower! Surf's up was the theme and I think it turned out pretty cute! There was lots of food, fun and fellowship and of course baby showering for little Lincoln man! Sarah got some fabulous things and looks like she is well on her way to being prepared for the big arrival!

Up Next-Sage's first birthday party! We were so excited to get to attend the big bash! Gage got to visit with lots of his friends, and I got to catch up with many old high school friends. It's so crazy to see how far we have all come in 10 years! Happy birthday Mr. Sage! Can't wait to get to spend time with you next weekend!

Then it was on to play dates in the park! Lindsay, Melissa and I brought the boys for a little Chick fil A picnic and playtime. I was so excited to get them all together. I have met little Luke before but never Mr. James Thomas, so it was very special! I swear that Luke and James Thomas have to be two of the happiest babies in the world! It was so good to see you girls and your little men and I can't wait to get together again this summer!

And last but not least, family visit time! We had some great time with both Grampie and Bebe as well as Gigi and Pops at several different parks! We spent time in the pool, went on walks, played outside with brooms (one of Gage's obsessions) and ate lots of yummy food! Except for Gage's cold (which later turned to croupe) we had such a good time! I am just sorry it was so quick!

So there you have it, summed up pretty quickly! We have been very busy! And now to enjoy my Mother's Day with my two favorite men! Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there!

Baking with Mommy!

We have had a very lazy weekend around the Hansberger Household. It has rained for the last two days straight so we have had to find lots of inside activities to entertain us. Today, I enlisted the help of my little man to make some chocolate chip cookies with me! We had lots of fun and he really liked to help with the mixing as well as tasting the dough to make sure it was just right! He is mommy's little helper!

Gage's first ice cream cone!

While at the store today, I found these lil' drums (mini drum stick ice cream cones.) I couldn't wait to let Gage try one tonight. He had never had an ice cream cone before (had a bite of my frozen yogurt) so I was excited to see how he would react. At first he didn't know how he felt about the cold ice cream, but after tasting a few bites, he dug right in. He finished the whole thing, cone and all and went straight into the bath tub from the high chair.

Yesterday I took Gage to his 15 month check up. (Two weeks late.) He is doing just awesome according to the doctor. He weighs 24 pounds which puts him in the 50%. He is 32 inches which puts him in the 75-90% for height, and his head is in the 75%. He only has nine teeth, but I am sure the others will come in soon. He is still taking two naps (most of the time) and goes to bed around 7 and sleeps till between 7-8. He is doing good with eating. He eats pretty much all the typical toddler foods. Loves whole wheat waffles and muffins for breakfast. Likes fruits still more then veggies. Loves bananas, strawberries, and raspberries. He also loves sweet potatoes and will eat guacamole with a spoon! We have introduced more dairy products and his little body is doing pretty good with them, so we are thinking he is outgrowing the dairy allergy! We'll see! He isn't really talking a ton. Says, mamma, dadda, ball, dog, uh oh, and nana (banana) but that's about all. He is super active and is all boy. When he is awake, he goes non-stop and is in to everything. He doesn't stay still for more then a few minutes at a time. He loves to be outside in the dirt, picking up sticks. The Easter bunny brought him a lawn mower and he is now obsessed. We mow inside, outside, and in the garage. He also loves to help me sweep. (Really he just cries until finally I give him the broom.) He carries it around everywhere. He will point to his head, belly and toes. And loves anything that rolls, balls, cars and trucks. He still takes a paci when he goes to sleep but that is the only time we allow him to have it. (It stays in the crib.) I think soon we will have to try to break this habit. He also has a favorite blankie, that he likes to drag around. (Thanks Miss Peggy!) My favorite moment with him everyday, is going to get him out of the crib in the morning and he is so excited to see me with this huge smile on his face. He is such a joy and I am so glad that God picked Daniel and I to be his mommy and daddy. I posted a video below this that I took with my iphone today. The quality is not very good, but I got him to point to some of his body parts and say uh oh. (Although you can't hear it very good.) I can't believe he will be 16 months this month!

Another visit to the Zoo!

Monday Gage and I got to go to the zoo with Melanie and Meacham. Melanie and I met each other when the boys were three months old in Gymboree. Gage and Meacham are three days apart and love playing together. We headed to the zoo for a couple hours in between naps. The boys really enjoyed playing in the water feature and petting the animals. I think their favorites were the little goats. We got some great pictures of the boys with them. The giraffes also were really close when we went to visit their exhibit. It was a very fun day and we can't wait to do it again. Oh, and the last two pics are of Gage in the front yard. The flowers were so pretty I had to get a few pictures.

A busy Easter weekend!

This weekend was a very busy one for Gage and I. We made a quick overnight trip to Dallas on Friday night to see family, daddy/hubby and to attend Maggie and Ella's first birthday on Saturday. We drove down on Friday afternoon. Gage was great in the car, but refused to take a nap on our three hour journey so that was no good! When we got there, we played outside on the basketball court the hotel had. It was good for Gage to stretch his legs. Then Friday night we got to see Daniel for a little while. He has been working in Decatur Texas for the last three months (two weeks on, two weeks off) so it was so nice to get to see him, only if it was for a couple hours.
After a very rough night of sleep Friday night (Gage does not do well in pack in plays) we headed to Maggie and Ella's First Birthday. I was worried that Gage was going to be so grouchy because he had not had a nap that day either, but he did ok. We got to see Sarah, which was very exciting since it was the first time to see her with a belly. You make pregnancy look amazing Aunt Sarah! The Hansberger family can't wait to meet little Lincoln in a few months. We had to leave a little early to get back on the road back to Oklahoma but it was a very fun filled, quick visit.
Sunday morning, Gage and I awoke to the sight of Easter eggs around the house. The Easter Bunny definitely stopped by our house. Gage opened his basket and hunted for his eggs, then it was off to church. I am so sorry Daniel had to miss this very fun day, but we can't wait to see him in two days! Yay! Now to relax and enjoy this beautiful day and play with some of Gage's new toys! Oh, and the last couple of pics are of him eating his first Resse's Peanut Butter Egg. He obviously didn't like it at all! Hehehe!

Easter Play date!

This Monday, Gage and I hosted an Easter play date at our house. We invited 9 little friends to the house for some fun Easter activities, food and even an Easter egg hunt. A few of our little friends couldn't come but we ended up having 6 little boys running around the house. I set up 3 different stations in the back yard, a water station, riding toy station, and tent and activity station. (I unfortunately didn't take many pics of these.) I think they had lots of fun. We then took a break for some yummy food. We quickly ate and then it was out to the front yard for our Easter Egg Hunt. Some of the older boys really understood finding the eggs and some needed a little help from their mommas. All in all we had a wonderful day. I know Gage had so much fun, because he took a two hour afternoon nap that day. Here are some of the best pics we got of the day. Thanks for coming friends!

A Day at the Zoo!

When Daniel was home from his two week stint on the drilling rig, we spent lots of family time together. One of our outings was to the OKC zoo. They have a new childrens part of the zoo where you get to pet fun farm animals and play in different water features. Gage loved the water but was not a fan of the animals being so close. He loves animals and is fine with them from afar, but when we got close to them, he clung to his daddy. I didn't take many pics that day but here are a few from our visit.

I know I am way behind on the blogging so I will try to catch up this week. Daniel was home for the last two weeks so we were able to do lots of fun things as a family. We were outside playing in the backyard and I was looking at my son and seriously thought, "He isn't a baby anymore!" He looked so big and he is ALL boy. He was picking up sticks and putting them in his dump truck and pushing it around. It is amazing how fast they grow and how quickly they learn.

Yesterday we went back to our same park we go to at least once a week. Last time we were there I noticed the daffodils were really starting to bloom, so before we left today I grabbed a nice shirt for Gage and a few Easter Eggs to maybe use in a few pictures. I was going to attempt to get Gage to take a few pics in the pretty flowers. Turns out, he was a lot more cooperative then I thought he would be. I got quite a few cute pics. I took tons but I will just post my favorites.

Since Daniel has been out of town for two weeks, we have had a few visitors come and see us. My mom came to visit at the beginning of the two weeks. She only stayed for a few days but we sure enjoyed her company. Then the following weekend, Daniel's mom came! We hadn't seen her since Christmas, so she was amazed at how much Gage has grown. On top of enjoying their company, they love spoiling their only Grandchild. Gage will be decked out in some really cute clothes this spring, as well as have fun with lots of new toys! We are being so very positive that spring is just around the corner, but what a better way to entertain a 14 month old inside than to practice finding those Easter Eggs. Last week, I was getting out some of the Easter decorations and I gave Gage the plastic eggs from last year, and boy did he have fun. He has wanted to play with them every day since. He opens and closes them, and I hide them (obviously not very hard) and he will find them (with a little help from momma.) I took a few pics of him playing with them.

Daniel came home from his two week stint on the drilling rig, and Gage and I were so happy to see him. We had a couple pretty days when he was home so we packed a picnic lunch and headed to our favorite park. Here are a few pics I took of the day! Gage is getting so big and is little Mr. Independent. Now when we go to the park, he no longer likes to be in the stroller. He either wants to push it himself, or walk on his own. It is so funny to watch these days!!

I know I am way behind on blogging. Daniel was home for his two weeks off, so blogging was not my first priority. Daniel came home on the Thursday before Valentine's day to a 14 month old throwing up everywhere. We had our first bout with throw up as parents and let me tell you, that is something I hope doesn't happen again for a long time. My Dad, Becky and brother's and sister were scheduled to come up Saturday so we told them to go ahead and come on up because we thought it was only a little 24 hour bug. Well, Gage had it for about 72 hours and then he so nicely passed it on to his mother. (After my family left, they got it too! UGH!!!) Anyway, other than feeling yuck most of the time they were here, we had a really good visit. Gage got to hang with his Grampie, Bebe and uncle and aunts as well as his Daddy he hadn't seen for two weeks. We had good weather, so we were able to spend some time outside, as well as yummy food and fun playing Apples to Apples after the little man went to bed. Mommy and Baby Swim Classes

Gage loves the water so we decided to get him signed up for swim classes with mommy on Mondays and Wednesdays. We have met some fun new friends and really enjoyed getting to spend some time in the (kinda cold) water. Now, I just can't wait for summer to come so we can swim outside in the sun! Come on Summer!! These last two weeks have been really hard with Daniel out of town and the snow and ice keeping us house bound, so Gigi coming to visit was a much needed TREAT!! Gigi spoiled both Gage and I!! She cooked, cleaned, folded laundry and played with her grandson which was such a help to me! My mother is such a wonderful women and I am so thankful to have her available to come in visit on a pretty regular basis. Here are a few pictures of her visit.

Today, Gage and I braved the SNOW again and headed out to a friends house for a fun Valentine playdate. There were five kiddos, tons of toys, yummy food, Valentine's crafts, and time for the mommy's to visit! Oh what fun! Thanks so much Julie for having us over! It was a blast! Here are a few pics!

Super Bowl Living room Picnic!

What a better way to watch the super bowl and enjoy some yummy food, than to have a picnic on the floor. Daniel has been out of town so it's just Gage and I. We cheered on those Saints with a cool picnic on the floor. It was lots of fun. I set up Gage's food in a Valentine Muffin tin (great idea by the Muffin Tin Mom blog) and he really enjoyed it. Painting with Pudding

This last week has been an interesting/hard week because little muffin Gage has had RSV. We have been inside all week and it's not getting any better because we are in the middle of an ice/snow storm right now. Gage and I are getting a little cabin fever so I knew that we were going to need something to entertain him today. When I use to teach we did a teddy bear unit and we use to paint teddy bears (printed on paper) with chocolate pudding. So, today I used that same kind of idea with Gage except no teddy bear. I just gave her a container of pudding and taped a paper to his high chair and let him go for it. He had a lot of fun and it entertained him for a good thirty minutes!!

We had Gage's one year well check today, finally, after being rescheduled three times. (Just a few days shy of being 13 months) He is doing fantastic according to the Dr. He weighed in at 24 pounds exactly which is in the 50-75%. He was 31 inches long which is in the 75-90% and I don't remember his exact head circumference but I know he was in the 75% for that too. He has been pretty cranky lately and not wanting to eat so I just assumed it was teething. But after two very long days of fussiness, no eating and serious diaper issues (these details I will gladly leave out) the doctor said he could have caught a minor stomach bug, or he could be teething but didn't seem to be worried about it at all. He is cutting tooth number five (I know, a little late) but don't you worry only having five teeth doesn't keep him from eating like a champ. He is growing up so quick and changing everyday. He can now say momma, dadda, and dog and points and makes sounds at lots of things (He tries to say nana for bananas but isn't quite there yet). He loves to play peek a boo, flip through books (for hours), dance, and be outside (any outside activity is good to him.) His favorite song is "The Wheels on the Bus." (He loves it!!) He also doesn't take a bottle anymore. He was only getting one at night, and shortly after he turned a year, we made the transition from bottle to sippy cup at night. He did great and really didn't even seem to miss it. His favorite food by far is bananas. He can't seem to get enough. We try to limit him to one banana a day. It's so funny when we go grocery shopping and he sees them, he gets so excited and wants to eat one in the cart. So now, I have to try to sneak the bananas in the cart which is very hard to do without him seeing the huge display. Gage also has no problem sleeping (thank goodness.) He goes to sleep at 7pm and typically sleeps till between 7-8 everyday. One day this week, I had to wake him at 9. (Growth spurt much) Anyway, He is an amazing little boy and we thank God everyday for the blessing he gave us! I will leave you with two videos of the Gage man showing off some of his latest tricks. The first one is a quick video of him dancing (before my battery died) and the second one is of him saying dog (kinda hard to hear) and showing off some moves from Gymboree class.

Childrens Science Museum

Saturday was a cold yucky day and we were starting to go stir crazy. So after Gage's afternoon nap, we headed out to the Children's Museum. We knew that most of it was still going to be over Gage's head, but they have this area just for children 0-3 that is all hands on activities, right up his alley. His favorite by far, was the huge water table. (Along with all the other kiddos in that area.) We spent probably a good hour in that area alone, just letting Gage go where ever his little heart desired. After playing in there, we took a quick tour through the rest of the musuem, letting Gage walk/run/stroll while also enjoying a little snack. He also loved watching this hot air balloon go up and down. He would sit and point to it and make this funny noise like he was trying to say balloon. He was mesmerized!! We were only there for a little over two hours, but boy was that money well spent. Gage was so tired by 6:30, we gave him an early bath and he was "lights out" by 6:45! I can't wait to spend many more Saturday's back at the Museum as he gets older. I took a few pics, but forgot my good camera so had to use the IPhone. Sorry if some are a little blurry!

We had a small play date at our house today. I have met some very sweet moms and kiddos through Gymboree and we had a few of them over for lunch and socializing. Stella was the only girl but she kept those boys in check and I know Meacham and Gage enjoyed having another playmate. We had some yummy soup and then played inside for a little bit before bundling up and heading out to go on a little walk in the wagon and Cozy coupe. Gage's Winter ONEderland Birthday Parties!

I can not believe that our little baby boy turned ONE on December 29th. I know every time I write a post reflecting on his life I always say, "Time Flies" or "It went by so fast" but it's amazing how true this is. I don't know where the last year went.
We wanted to do something special to celebrate the special day so we set up a party. Well let me rephrase that, we set up three parties. To make a long story short we have a very big and complex family situation (divorces, remarriages etc.) so getting everyone together for one big party is kinda hard, plus the fact that we live out of state and want to celebrate with our friends and neighbors here also added a wrench in plans. So we decided to use the same theme and decorations for all three parties and just do them at different times.
The first party was thrown at our house here in Oklahoma before all the holiday hub bub began. We had his party on December 19th. There were lots of friends and neighbors here to help Gage celebrate.
The next two parties were in Houston. One we had at my Dad's house with lots of family. It was great to have his Grandparents(on that side), Great Aunts, Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins around for the big event. This party was on December 28th, the day before his actual birthday.
The last of the birthday extravaganzas was on December 29th. We had another Winter ONEderland party at my Moms. She did an amazing job with all the decorations and food, and I know she worked so hard to put it all together. Thanks Mom! It was great to see lots of old friends with there precious little ones, and friends and neighbors I grew up with.
We are so very blessed to have all the family and friends that we do. We had such a great time celebrating our little guys special day. Can't wait for birthday number two.
I decided instead of posting a bunch of different pics, I would just put together a slide show of all three birthdays. They are in order of which they happened. (It's a little long but worth looking at. There are some great pics with him and his cakes.)

We go for Gage's one year well check in two weeks. (I know-a little late) so I will post all his stats then but for now I will leave you with a few one year milestones.
One Year milestones:
-Started walking three days after his first birthday.
-Eats pretty much all big boy food now. (Some of his favorites are peanut butter and jelly, whole wheat waffles, nutri grain bars, strawberries, bananas and soy yogurt.) However, he is not really picky and will at least try everything. (except does not like avocado)
-Only takes a bottle at night filled with 4 oz of soy milk. (Still has a slight lactose issue.-Breaks out into a rash, not near as bad as it use to be however.)
-Doctor said to start trying to introduce a little bit of milk products to see if it still effects him, so we have been giving him a little bit of cheese here and there and he seems to be doing ok with it.
-Loves his white blankie that Ms. Peggy made for him and when you go to pick him up from the crib in the morning or after nap time, he always has it in hand and has to bring it with him.
-We are starting to only let him use the passi during sleep and nap time, however it has been kinda hard to enforce this during the traveling and teething times that we have been going through lately.
-He loves books. He will pull all the books off his book shelf in his room and sit for a good 15 to 20 minutes just flipping pages. (Doesn't sound like a long time but to entertain a one year old for that long is amazing.)
-He will wave bye,bye and loves to point at things, especially lights. He will clap, raise his hands to get a high five and loves to play peek a boo. He has just started "dancing" a little when music is on. (His dancing consists of kinda bobbing up and down to the beat.) He says Dada like crazy but only says Mama when he is upset, or crying.

Gage's first Christmas

We had a very nice, quiet Christmas in Oklahoma just the three of us. We decided to stay here, to kind of start our own family traditions, plus we wanted Santa to come to our house. I can honestly say this Christmas was one of the best Christmas's of my life. I think it is just as much fun being a parent on this special day as it is being a child. I think Gage knew it was Christmas because he was up bright an early (6:30 am) When he came out to the living room, he noticed his Santa presents and stocking and dug right in. We let him open his stocking and then we took a short break for breakfast and much needed coffee for Daniel and I. After that, it was time for presents. Gage was real into the first two or three and after that he was over it. Daniel and I basically opened the rest of his for him and then exchanged presents with each other while he was playing with some of his new toys. The rest of the day was spent putting together toys, admiring the pretty snow, and being lazy in our PJ's all day. It was an amazing Christmas and we can honestly say we live the BLESSED life! God has truly blessed our family. We left for Houston the day after Christmas, so next post will be of our visit there and Gage's Birthday Celebrations!

Blizzard Christmas Eve 2009

Sorry it has been so long since I have posted! It has been a busy couple of weeks between, Christmas, Gage's first birthday, and traveling to Houston. We are back now so I am trying to catch up. I am working on posts from Christmas and his Birthday and I will try to get those done tonight. For now we are going to start with the Blizzard that hit Oklahoma on Christmas Eve.
When we woke up that morning, it was only lightly drizzling with a freezing rain. Both Daniel and I made some comment that I am sure the weather men are wrong and we will probably only get a few flurries. Well boy were we wrong. It quickly turned from rain, to sleet, to snow within about an hour and it snowed from about 10am until 10pm. I have never seen anything like this. It was a complete white out. We couldn't even see the neighbors house across the street because of the blowing snow. Needless to say, we had a white Christmas but it was also about 19 degrees so it wasn't really snow we could get out and play in. When it was all said and done, we had a record breaking 14 inches with snow drifts between three and four feet. Christmas Morning, the storm had stopped and the sun came out for a while, so we were able to get out and take a little walk around the neighborhood to take some pictures. It was so cold but so pretty to see all the snow. Daniel attempted to shovel some of the snow, but soon gave up when our friend came by with his bobcat and plowed our drive way. It was so beautiful but made for a very interesting drive to Houston the next day. (More on that to come in future posts.)
As I am typing this, there are still probably 2 inches of snow in our back yard and in some places more. Here are a few pics from Gage's second snow storm. (It snowed last year when he was only a few months old and it was probably only 2 or three inches.)

Our Christmas Tree, decorations, and family traditions!

I can't believe that Christmas is only five days away! I have been meaning to post this for a while, but I guess with this time of year, time just got away from me! I love decorating for Christmas! This has got to be my most favorite time of year. Our stockings are hung but the chimney with care, and our halls have been decked! We started a new tradition this year, the Elf on a Shelf. I am sure many of you know what this is, but basically it is a little Elf that is Santa's helper and he watches the kiddos and reports back to Santa whether they are on the naughty or nice list. I know that Gage is a little young for it this year, but I can't wait for many years to come, to get our Elf on a Shelf out. This is going to be a busy Christmas for us! We are heading to Houston the day after Christmas, to celebrate the holidays with all FOUR families and to also celebrate Gage's first birthday. We already had a party here at our house, but there will be two more for him down in Houston, so I am going to wait and post all the pics in one post. Into Everything!

He loves to take things out of the cabinets that aren't locked in the kitchen and put them all over the floor, pull every book off the book shelf in his room, or try to get in the fridge every time we open it. My Birthday!

I am so behind on blog posting but I wanted to make sure I did a little post on my birthday! It's not the birthday part I want to share, it is how incredibly special my husband made me feel that day. Turning 28 is not fun at all and really it's just two years away from thirty, but my boys went all out that day. Daniel liked to call it "Ashleigh's birthday weekend!" My birthday was on Saturday November 21st! The Friday night before Daniel came home with some beautiful flowers, hired a babysitter and took me out to dinner to my favorite restaurant, PF Changs! We hadn't been there in so long, so I enjoyed every minute of it! Saturday morning when I woke up, he let me sleep in and then we went as a family and got breakfast. When we came back I opened a few presents from my family and friends. Daniel had to run an "errand" and he said he had a window of time between 10-12. (Hmm, very suspicious.) When he came back, he made me go in the bedroom. A few minutes later I was allowed to come out. As I opened the door, Daniel was singing Happy Birthday, all the lights were out, and a beautiful cake was sitting on the table with candles all lit. Now, I know some of you are thinking, "A Cake.?!" Big Deal" This was the first cake I have gotten on my birthday since I've been married! Anyway , after we ate cake and opened presents! This was the birthday of cases. I got a new hard case for my iphone, a new case for my camera, and a new case for my laptop from little Gage. Daniel got me a really cool Digital Picture frame that you can upload over 1000 pics. (Don't you worry, I already filled up the memory card. It's like a scrolling picture album of Gage's first year of life.)
Thank you Daniel for an amazing birthday! It was so very special to celebrate with the two favorite men in my life!!

Our New Camera!

I am so excited! When Gage and I were in Houston, my Dad and Becky gave me an early birthday/Christmas present! I got my Mom camera!! They gave us a Canon Rebel XS! Let's hope in the next couple of post, you will start to notice that our pics are better quality. Hopefully I will learn how to use this thing pretty quick and get good at taking pics. It has always been a passion of mine and now I can start to become better at it! Thanks Dad and Becky for such a wonderful, generous gift!!

Planning for Gage's first birthday is in full effect. I have almost all the decorations bought and I am in love with the invitations I found that match his theme. Gage's First Halloween!

Gage had a great time on his first Halloween. My youngest sister, Danielle, came up from Baylor and spent the weekend with us. We went to the park that morning and enjoyed a beautiful day! Then we got him all dressed up for some trick or treating. We were a little nervous as to how he would react to the costume. He has been fussy the last couple days because of teething. But he did great. No crying or fussing at all, in fact he was quite the opposite! Very chill and kinda comatose. He almost fell asleep in the stroller while "trick or treating." We got him home a little past his bed time, bathed him, and he was out for the night. Hope everyone had a great Halloween!

10 Months Old!

On October 29th, Gage turned 10 months old. Can you BELIEVE it?? I certainly can't. Wow how our life changed in the past 10 months, but only for the better. We love you Gage. Here are few 10 month milestones.

-Sleeps from 7pm till between 6-7am.
-Nurses only three times a day now.
-Eats lots more table food. Some of his favorites are sandwich turkey meat, Gerber graduate cereal bars, wheat bread, bananas, and Nilla wafers.
-He will stand on his own, but not take any steps yet.
-He pulls to stand on everything.
-Loves to be outside!!
-He will clap, and give you high five.
-He's a lot more vocal.
(I'm sure there are more things I am forgetting, but time is of the essence when he is napping!!)

Recent Play Dates!

Gage has recently had some impromptu play dates! We are so blessed to have kiddos around that are about his age. On Monday, we went to Meacham's house and let the boys play, and then went for a long walk around the neighborhood. On Tuesday, Ryder's Daddy was raking a big pile of leaves for him to play in, so we took Gage over there and the two of them had so much fun! Gage was cracking up every time Ryder would move or play in the leaves. Thanks guys for all the fun!

Park and Pumpkin Carving

The weather this weekend was absolutely beautiful so we decided to take advantage of it. We packed a picnic lunch, and headed out to Hafer Park for a little lunch, swinging, and feeding the ducks. When we came home from the park, Daniel wanted to carve his first pumpkin with Gage. Daniel was very into it, and Gage thought touching the "pumpkin guts" was pretty cool, but he began to have a melt down and was ready for nap time so Daniel finished it without his little helper. It turned out really cool. Good Job Daniel! It looks like we have a family tradition started!! (Sorry the pictures are uploaded backwards, and I don't have time to fix it because little man is waking up from his nap.)

It's beginning to look a lot like FALL!!

October in Oklahoma is in full swing and fall is in the air. Everyday, Gage and I go out for a walk (when the weather allows) and enjoy the outdoors. Gage is so content outside and is such an outside kiddo. We try to take advantage of these pretty days because we know winter is fast approaching and we are going to have to find things inside to keep up entertained.
We were out walking today and I was just looking around at all the beautiful fall colors on the trees. Being from Houston, we never saw a change in tree color around there. They kinda went from green to brown, to fallen off. But up here, you really get to see true fall colors. The wind was blowing like crazy today, so I thought before all the leaves are gone, I should capture some of these colors. I also took a few of Gage in the leaves and the front of our house all decorated for fall! Happy Fall Ya'll!!

My mom came to visit for a few days and to babysit for Daniel and I while we went to the U2 concert. On the Saturday she was here, we went to the park for a few hours and took some pics.

It's starting to get much cooler here in Oklahoma, and we are trying to find some fun activities to do inside. My friend Amanda (mymommiesfavoritefinds-yocumotion.blogspot.com) finger paints with her son in the bathtub all the time, so I thought I would try it with Gage. He got quite messy, but that's what made it fun. We did it right before bath time, so all we had to do was strip him down and clean him off right in the tub. I think Gage really enjoyed it.

Halloween Tricks and Treats!

Gage is very lucky to be blessed with four sets of Grandparents and two of them sent him some Halloween goodies last week! He received a package in the mail from Grampie and Bebe last Thursday and couldn't wait to open it. Then, Gigi came on Friday and also brought him some treats. Gage loves his Leap Frog Maracas and used to just shake them and look at the colors. But now, he likes to use them as a baseball bat. Daniel and I have come to the conclusion that our child will either be a baseball player or the maraca player in a Mariachi band. You decide??
