Spring has Sprung!!

Spring in Oklahoma has finally arrived. To celebrate the official kick off of Spring, we had all the neighbors over to grill out and watch a little basketball. Then Saturday morning, some of those same neighbors as well as the Hansberger household, decided to beautify our little neighborhood. We have a small gardening group in our HOA that worked on the front entrance. We pulled weeds, cut back all the over grown plants, and planted some beautiful new flowers. It was kind of cold and over cast, but we had a great time with friends none-the-less. Happy Spring! (I wish I had a picture with everyone in it, but some left early and others were taking the pictures. We also have no before and after shots, just after.)

Playdate #2 with Ryder!!

This week, Gage and I went over to our neighbor, Nikki's house to visit with her and her precious boy Ryder! She is a teacher and this is her spring break, so we got to spend some quality time during the day. Ryder can't wait for Gage to grow up so he can have a friend to play with. He was very excited to see Gage and was really interested in him! Just a little longer buddy!

Happy St.Patrick's Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day to all!!

First Playdate!!

Yesterday, my neighbor and I took the boys out for their first official "playdate." Actually it was more of the mom's getting to eat and chat and the boys hanging out in their car seats, but who's counting. Anyway, you can see by the pictures that Gage is super excited to be hanging out with his buddy Ryder.

House Divided!!

With a post title like that - you know where this is going. For those of you that know us, you know that Ashleigh graduated from Baylor and I graduated from Texas. Last week, Oklahoma City hosted the Big 12 championship and Baylor made an incredible run in the tournament - about two rounds farther than anyone anticipated. They knocked off the Jayhawks and then went on to face the longhorns in the semi-finals. I'll go ahead and spoil it and tell you that the Bears beat my Horns and, against my will, I busted out my own bear claw after they won. The pictures below show the chaos before and during the game. Gage owns two Baylor onesies and three UT onesies (thanks Raj) and we went back and forth during the game about which onesie he should be wearing. The marriage solution (always a compromise) was to have him switch outfits at half time to appease us both as well as give us juicy blog material.

Gage is a huge Dexter Pittman fan.

It looks like he's trying to do a horns down....rest assured, he is not.

He's very excited about his burnt orange. I would even call him chipper.

Gage in his Baylor green and gold...and the mis-matched blue pants.

Visiting Sunset Elementary!!

On Friday Gage made his first visit to Sunset Elementary. As many of you know, I taught first grade up until I had him. (He was born December 29, 2008 and I taught until December 21, 2008.) I was pregnant all of the school year, so the kiddos watched me progressively get bigger and bigger, and couldn't wait until I came back to show them my precious baby. Anyway, Gage was very happy and smiled a lot while we were there which the kids really got a kick out of. They wanted to hold him and touch him, but super clean freak that I am-wouldn't let them get anywhere near touching him. They were so excited to see me as well as baby Gage which really moved me to tears. (Admitting this now, I missed them a bunch too and couldn't wait to see how they have changed and grown and to show off my bundle of joy.) Anyway, the pictures pretty much speak for themselves.

Gage and I finding out what they were doing for spring break!

Gage helping me pull names out of the jar to see who would speak next!

Of course first graders have to take a silly picture!

Say Cheese!

All the kiddos giving me a huge hug before I left!! Love them!!

Let it Snow!!

All I've got to say is BOO to the snow. We went from 70's this weekend to 30 today. Only in Oklahoma. This was actually Gage's second snow storm. The first one was two weeks after he was born and we didn't want to take him out in it! Now that his a little older, I bundled him up in his snow suit and we made a trek outside. We didn't stay long because the snow was coming down pretty good, and it kept falling on his face and eyes. He was not ok with the cold!!

Gage in front of the house in his bouncy seat! (Please take note of my spring flowers that started to pop up and will now be ruined because of the snow!)

Gage after snowflakes fell on his face and eyes!

Mom, it is freezing! Get me inside!

Doesn't really seem to be enjoying it to much!

Gage Slept in his Crib!!

Last night was a sad night for me but a milestone in Gage's life!! Little Gage slept in his crib for the first time. I was really not ready to put him in his crib, but I know you have to start sometime and it seemed as good of time as any. He did awesome however. We put him down to bed around 8:00pm. All the while, I am constantly checking the monitor to make sure my little baby is ok. The day and night video monitor is awesome!! When I went to bed he was sleeping so soundly. I heard him on the monitor at 1:00 am, but he wasn't crying just kinda making noise, so I left him alone. At about 2:30am he was awake and ready to eat!! So he slept for almost 7 hours. Yeah!! I fed him and put him back down, and he woke up again around 5:30. Overall, the first crib night was a success!! I hope tonight is just as good!
Daddy giving him a bath before bedtime!!

This morning when he woke up in his crib!

Awake and looking at his Aquarium on the side of his crib!

So happy and rested!!

A Day of Many Firsts

So lately I've had the itch to blog and I told Ashleigh the only way that I would blog is if I could write what I wanted to write without her editing my post so...here we go. Here's how the day started out - daylight savings is a pain in the rear! Last night was one night where I could have used the extra hour and it didn't happen this morning. So rather than sleeping in, we got up and experienced our first family church outing. I think it went pretty well overall - Gage was asleep when we got there, continued to sleep during the music, and then woke up when the rest of the church was completely silent. So for the first time - we were "that" couple with the baby making all kinds of noises in complete silence. He wasn't screaming so it could have been worse but it was definitely an interesting feeling. The message was great today too, it was about marriage and vows and putting the Lord first and your spouse second. Those messages are always beneficial.

After church, we had a brief outing to Wal-mart where we picked up some essentials for the week. As long as Gage is moving in any type of vehicle (i.e. - a grocery cart), he's happy so the Wal-mart trip was (thankfully) uneventful. I forgot to mention that today was one of the first days in a while that we had nice Spring weather on a weekend AND the wind wasn't blowing 45 mph. That being said, we decided to put on some spring/summer clothing and be productive in the yard. This is where Gage had a couple of firsts - his first time to wear sunglasses which he fought initially but then quickly loved and his first time on the riding lawnmower with daddy! I don't think he knew he was on a lawnmower but that's beside the point. NOTE: Ashleigh is wanting everyone to know that Gage was not actually riding on the mower - we simply used it for the picture. We're good safe parents - promise.

I was out in the yard when Gage experienced his other "first" but Ashleigh gave me the play-by-play from the backdoor. He rolled over for the first time! Not completely over, but from his back to his side. We're still kind of debating whether we're going to count it as the "first" time he rolled over but since we're blogging about it being his first, that debate seems to be over.

Okay, I'm beginning to feel like I'm writing a novel so I'm going to stop...more Daddy posts to come!

You wouldn't know it was spring except for the buds on the tree

Gage on the lawnmower that isn't moving - yes, I really wear that hat in the yard.

Gage working it - look out ladies!

The lady in Gage's life for now (non-riding lawnmower in background)

The half-roll (back to side)

He must have gotten tired - almost there! (Yes, he's missing a sock)

Mommy's Helper!!

Today Gage and I had a very fun day of cleaning and doing laundry. As you can see Gage was quite a help with folding the clothes. Just another day in the life of a mom!!
