Memorial Day 2009

We had an amazing Memorial Day! This weekend, Joe and Sarah made the long trek up from Houston to spend some time with us. He had so much fun and were blessed with wonderful weather all weekend! We spent lots of time outside, shopping, eating and enjoying each others company. I love these two peeps and wish we could spend every weekend together. Thanks guys for coming. We love you!

Joe and Gage meeting for the first time!

Joe's hand is a tiny bit bigger than Gages.

Relaxing on the couch drinking coffee (not Gage) on Sunday morning.

We took a long walk around Lake Hefner, and Gage obviously enjoyed it as much as Sarah and I.

Having a picnic around the lake.

Spending some time with Daddy.

Our picnic set up. It was a beautiful day!

Sunday night after Gage went to bed, we enjoyed some adult beverages around the fire pit.

Yay for rolling over and playing outside!

Today was a beautiful day, so I decided to take Gage outside to play. He loves to be outdoors and I think he is going to be a typical boy when it comes to playing outside. We loaded up the stroller with a blanket and lots of toys and headed for a shady spot under some trees in our backyard. We played and played and he just loved it.
Lately, Gage has been doing lots of moving and rolling over, but most of the time gets stuck on his arm and rolls back. Well today I just happened to have the camera and caught him in action doing some great rolling over tricks. (Worth watching)
I can't wait for many more outdoor adventures!

Playing outside!

HI Mom!

What are you looking at?

Rolling over!

This rolling over stuff is serious business!

Keep on Dancing!

So this morning, Gage was in his Jumperoo while I was folding a load of clothes. The TV was on (don't judge me) and it was on Ellen. No Doubt was on, so I turned it up a little bit to hear them performing. As I did this, Gage started jumping like crazy and making funny sounds. I tried to catch it on video but this was the best I got. (Sorry for the cheesy mom commentary.) Ya'll may not find this very funny, but as a mom, I find everything my child does funny.

BBQing with Daddy!!

The two favorite men in my life, spent a little time last night whipping up some delicious hamburgers. Gage was learning a few tips from his Daddy!

Cereal Time!

Gage got the all clear to eat cereal when we went to the Doc on Friday, so this weekend we tried it out. I mixed a little oatmeal cereal with a little bit of pears. After lots of gaging and spitting it out, he finally swallowed it but I am still not quite sure he liked it. We captured a few photos and a little video of the milestone, for all our friends and family that live out of town. (You will notice, we were not prepared for this, because we don't even have the high chair set up yet.)

Happy Mother's Day, Happy Birthday, and Happy Baby Dedication Day!

This Sunday was a day of many celebrations. It was my first Mother's Day, Daniel's 27th Birthday (yes he is a young one) and Gage's Baby Dedication. I had an absolutely wonderful Mother's day, thanks to my amazing husband. We got up early had a little coffee and breakfast, and then headed off to church for Gage's Dedication. He did amazing, didn't cry one bit and the minister who prayed with us, said such a heartfelt prayer that put me in tears. It is awesome to think about just how good God is. God carefully designs each baby with such detail, and the little details are what make everyone so unique. I am so blessed to call Gage my son!!

After the baby dedication, we headed out to lunch with some friends of ours (Travis and Olivia) that live in our neighborhood as well as attend the same church. We had a nice Mother's Day/Birthday brunch but had to cut it kinda short because Gage had not had a nap and was getting pretty fussy!
We came home, put him down for a nap and then opened a few cards and presents. Gage and I set up a little scavenger hunt for Daddy to find some of his B-Day presents. Daniel's big present came about a week early. We (Gage and I) as well as my Dad and Becky, got him a garage fridge which he has wanted for a while to store some cold beverages. (Not just water!) But we managed to throw in a few other surprises to go along with it. Happy Birthday Daniel!!

Overall it was an awesome Mother's Day, and I can't wait to spend the rest of the day, relaxing and being lazy with my Hubby and son and wearing some of the new comfy lounge wear that I got for Mother's Day! Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful Mom's out there.

Fun with Friends!

After our doctor's appointment on Friday, we headed to BJ's restaurant to meet up with some old friends. I read Amanda Yocum's blog last week that said she was heading to Oklahoma for her Grandmother's birthday and I knew that she couldn't stop into OKC without having lunch with us.
We grabbed a quick bite to eat with John, Amanda, cutie James, and John's mom. It was so great to catch up and share stories, and the husbands really seemed to enjoy venting about our blogging hobby. And, have no fear, we didn't leave home without the cameras to capture these memories for the blog.
It was so great to see you Amanda and meet Tiny. We will have to do it again when I come to Houston.
*Side note, the only reason I have this posted before Amanda, is because she is without Internet until she gets home today. Haha, Amanda!!
Amanda and James, Gage and I!

Hi Gage, says James!

This was the best one I had of the two of them. We will see if Amanda's came out any better!

Gage's Four Month Well Check

This Friday we had Gage's Four month well check. We knew he had grown a lot but I don't think we were quite prepared for the stats. So don't you worry that our child is weighing in at 17.5 pounds (90-95% weight) and he went from 21 inches to 26.5 inches in two months. (95% for height) I don't have his head measurements with me (in his room and he is napping) but I can tell you he was in the 75% for that.
Needless to say, our child is eating good, and growing big time so I guess we are doing something right.
Four Month milestones-
-he is trying to sit up on his own, and can do it for about 10 seconds but then falls forward
-he rolls over, really only when he gets upset or when he is sleeping in his crib
-he is smiling like crazy and cooing and "talking"
-he goes to sleep around 7:30 and will typically sleep till around 4, then after being fed will sleep till about 7.
-takes a morning nap around 9:30 that lasts about an hour
-afternoon nap is normally from 2-4
-he loves bath time!!

Exercising in the Exersaucer

So this week, it rained all week long and I needed some new ways of entertaining the little one, so I thought I would bust out the exersaucer. Wow, I didn't know what I was in for when I thought I could put this together during his nap time. But, I followed the step by step instructions and 2 hours later we had our exersaucer. After 12 AAA batteries (yes you read that right 12-Daniel and I want to buy stock in batteries) we were in business. Gage seemed to really like it and enjoyed having something new to play with.
This picture doesn't do it justice. All the little parts were in the plastic bag on the bed. And yes, I put it together in our room because I was so afraid all the noise would wake him up from his nap.

Finished product. (Notice the sleeping baby in the monitor on the bed.)

Not quite so sure yet!!

Hmmmm... can I eat this.

I'm sure going to try!
